I'm preparing a recording for PS.

For now, I have only a video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Wimyujshhk

    3'16: Fire starts to burn
5'38: Firemen arrive (in score, it's marked: Soldatescamente)
6'48: it's marked Clamando (= calling). I imagine people calling each other. Maybe to jump from buildings...
8'55: hymn in thanks for the firemen

I love this piece so much!

Wow, Felipe, that was neat - I've never heard that piece before. Nice playing! And the new camera shows not only more of Fanta, but also YOU much more clearer now. Really, it is like night and day. I noticed that blurring effect - what video editing program did you use? And your cuts were very good here, except for the one at 2:25.

You and your shorts in February - aghhhhh! Cute, though!!

in fact there was no real cut at 2'25. in fact, due to a bug in my audio editor, some part of the audio was accidentally cut (probably while saving). I was really mad, because there was no cut in this beginning, and then I had to make that ugly thing in the video...

the blurring comes from the machine itself. around 4'33, the camera tries to focus, but my body goes left and right (Alkan's fault!) so the focus is never right! hehe
I still need to use that camera better.

as a video editor, I quit Windows Movie Maker, and now I'm using Pinnacle VideoSpin, which is also free. but it doesn't preserv the HD recording. when you saw Fanta, I didn't edit that video. I simply uploaded the "raw" file from the camera, so it was much better than here.

    thanks for listening!
I find this piece so descriptive. when I first listened to it, I could imagine the fire.

I'd never heard this one either - though I have looked at the score often.
A strange and unwieldy but compelling piece. I don't find Alkan's frequent resort to tremolos always convincing. He may have had orchestra textures in mind (someone should really orchestrate this piece :!: )
You have the full measure of it. There's not much that needs to be improved.

    thanks, Chris!

about the orchestration... I always thought Quasi-faust should be orchestrated, because it's impossible to play it convincingly on the piano. and we day I was talking to a guy who likes to orchestrate things. I suggested this piece to him and he did it!
