I have been trying for some time to satisfactorily translate this letter written by the Marquis de Custine concerning the famous soirée where George Sand was seen trying to get her mack on with Chopin, complete with Polish colors. The letter was republished in French by Dr. Kallberg and I don't think it's been published in English. Anyway, I finally managed to consult with a fluent person, so I think the translation is mostly correct now, but any nitpicks would be appreciated.

I shall take a look at it, but I would say that the French has some errors.

Custine was fond of 'clever' writing, and I think that might have made for some of the strange phrasing and whatnot. Everyone with any facility with French who has looked at this has commented on that, and most say it's not just the fact that it's nearly 200 years old. He likes making puns, making references to cryptic things which only the reader should (theoretically) be able to understand. You can see this in his letters to Chopin as well.
