I just read in another thread that Monica asked for some Bach suggestions. While the Aria
from the Goldberg Variations is hard to beat, here is another one I would submit as
just as powerful: the Capriccio in B flat BWV 992.

I have a better rendition of it by Demidenko, but this one is pretty good.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion, Brian.

I started listening to this piece and yes, it is very beautiful. So I went and found a copy of the score but discovered that I cannot play this piece because of its title. The score I found calls the piece:
Capriccio on the Departure of his Most Beloved Brother - BWV 992. I can't play this because I lost my own brother around six years ago, but it still hurts too much when something reminds me of him.

I'm open for more ideas so if you think of anything else, please tell me.

I'm very sorry about that Monica. If it helps, that piece is about trying to convince his
brother not to go to war (as a musician in the military band).

My father went into the army during the Korean War, played trombone in the army band, and was sent to Germany where he was stationed in Berlin for some time. But that's where he met my mother, so if he was not in a military band, I would not have been born. Do we know what ever happened to that brother?

After Monica's recent flurry of Bach postings it seems time for a few more suggestions!

The C minor sinfonia is quite nice and the first and fourth movements of the Partita in Bb are
    very beautiful.
