Merry Christmas to everybody, here's a video I made of the 11th piece in Ned Gerhart's Studies in Song:

"Love For You This Christmas"

http://youtu.be/uVA4lghtHyM

And yes I'm wearing a red vest and a green tie it was the one I wore for the barbergators Christmas show (the Gainesville chapter of the choral organization the barbershop harmony society). That was a lot of fun by the way :)

Happy new year too, too

They were both lovely!

Riley, is that barbershop quartet organization the one with the really long acronym (which I can't remember)? Some of the mother's relatives were active in that back in the 50's and 60's.
Nice to hear that barbershop is still alive!
Monica, I loved the dancer turning on your piano! And the Picardy third at the end sounded better with that deep bass note.

Thank you, Stewart! And there's that word again. Picardy....always make me think of Star Trek. :)

Hi Stu, thanks for listening, glad you liked it. Now about barbershop yes, you must mean spebsqua or the (deep breath) society for the preservation and encouragement of barbershop singing in america. Its a lot of fun, singing every Tuesday, and then usually have an get together at a local establishment they call "afterglow" where we sing some songs while downing a pitcher of beer :)

Thanks for watching Chris, I get audio from both speakers, but it is of course one channel doubled to L and R stereo channels. The problem I've realized is this RadioShack plug. It says its stereo, but the 2nd band on it must be broken because I can't hear it when I record. Have you ever tried this piece? It was quite a challenge, especially the top of the 2nd page

On my headphones, the sound comes only on one side, which is real disturbing. Perhaps that is some setting that could be changed, I'll look around.

Yes this is one of the Gerhart pieces I recorded back in 2008. It is real nice. I suppose you mean the large LH stretches at the top of page 2. Looks like those middle notes can easily be taken with the RH. You should always make things easy for yourself.

Hmm. I played back the video and I was able to get sound in both ears. Strange that you only get one sound from one ear. Yes those jumps are hard, and yes, no sense making things harder than they have to be. I think there's one piece in the book and his description is like "I know I should have picked a different key, but this will at least be a good finger exercise." :x
