Here is a little game I feel like playing. Well, I can't really play, because I know the answers already. So anyway, I'm wondering if anyone can figure out the significance of the new banner... :?: :)

1. Who are these people?
2. What piece did they compose that relates to the upcoming holiday?

Ok, let's have an initial try.

1. Liszt - Mephisto Waltz, Totentanz, I'm sure there are other possible connections.
5. Tausig - Das Geisterschiff (not as hard as it sounds, incidentally)

I'll take the easy one. Mussorgsky, Night on Bald Mountain.

(Someone knows Taussig by sight??)

Mad Dowell Witches Dance
Saint-Saens Dance Macabre
Tchaikovsky Hamlet ???

I had to use Google image search to find Tausig... the image did not ring a bell.

Two points for you! For Liszt I actually thinking of a more obscure piece called "Trauervorspiel und Trauermarsch".
I looked at the score to Das Geisterschiff-- it LOOKS scary!!

One point for you! (I wouldn't know Tausig by sight, either...)

Two and half points for you! Is MacDowell really mad? haha. He also wrote a piece called "A Haunted House". I'm going to check it out. Maybe I could get it learned by Oct. 31. Half a point for Tchaikovsky because you had the name right, but I was thinking about a piece he wrote called "The Witch" or "Baba Yaga".

Hehe mad Dowell... that should be at least 4 points for me now.
I was just going to write I don't know any such Tchaikovsky piece but then found out that in fact I recorded that one in a previous life. Hamlet is pretty grisly was well though, digging up poor Yorick's skull.

Ok, maybe another point for you, although Hamlet is not really Halloween-ish.
I just remembered that I also recorded a "Witch" piece by MacDowell many moons ago.

When my kids were little, I used to read them a children's story book called Baba Yaga. Isn't that a little strange? I think it is now. It was a nice story, though. Not scary...
