Good day fellow members,

As i've seen and heard lots of compositions made by members here, i can only but feel a little embrassed to share my first attmepts on writing composition. Here is the link (sadly i'm not too familiar with my own piece), just want to share and would like to know whether it make sense or just plain bad.

It is a first attempt, Emperor. And a good start for a first attempt. Don't know how old you are but if you're young you have plenty of room to grow. It's a growing process. You'll be writing hundreds of newer ones and each time you'll get a little better. Keep it up.

I'm not a composer and cannot judge how well this hangs together as a composition. It sounds a bit improvisational and derivative, but there are some nice tunes and harmonies, and it is affectionately and tastefully played. A likable piece of work. Keep going !

Thank you Joe and Techneut.

Not sure if i'm considered young (now i'm in my early 20s) but no matter what it is, i plan to improve myself further and hopefully, write better pieces :). I got to admit this piece was written with Bach's music in mind especially at the end, i am still happy that both of you had enjoyed the music.

Though it does sound more like an improvisation than a composition, it is indeed tastefully subtle and enjoyable to listen to, especially the recitative-like transitions between the parts. You do seem too eager to fit the ending into the conventional candential mold however, which doesn't seem to jell in very well with the tender middle section. But it's a good piece of work, do keep it up!

Thank you Affinty, i am still immature with writing and hopefully i can make it sound like a 'soild' piece in the future. I do however happy that you too, had enjoyed this little piece of work.

I appreciate your advice and will think more on it.

Well, the first one sounds full-bodied and has real weight; the climax is somewhat powerful as well. Will look forward to the 'full version', I guess. Nice job.

The second one sounds like something one should forget about though, but the idea of a calm A section and a contrapuntal B section as some sort of yin and yang is pretty useful. You might have to improve the A section in this case though.

Thank you very much for your suggestion and critique. I will develop the first one while i certainly need some revision of the second link and see how it goes to become a bigger piece. :)
