Please find enclosed Carl Nielsen's Mignon Op 3 No 4 for piano, which I recorded this morning.

That is very well done ! Nielsen's Op.3 set is a bit inconsequential, with only brief glimpses of his distinctive sound, but still nice.

What puzzles me is how this sounds so good and full, whereas your CPE Bach sound so awfully digital. This here is an acoustic I guess, and a good one.
Unless my ears are starting to let me down. Why you bother with a digital if you can record on this ?
It's an easy little piece this, but you really make the most of it. Now if only the Bach was played that well, sounded that good ...

@ Chris: this is a bit unfair to say, given some of what you submit. Let's have a little grace; there is plenty of room on the Piano Society server for all levels of piano works (and even organ works).

@ MarkieUK, I would like a stronger sense of the waltz-like nature of Mignon's movement, as she is introspective and lovely but unimportant in society.

I have no truck with being fair but I am always the first to point out the inconsequentiality of stuff I submit. That doesn't mean there is no room for it. This Nielsen set as a whole is nice and pleasing but I can't say it is very strong compared to all else he wrote. This after having played through it yesterday (for the first time since many years).

I've always liked this piece. (even if it is inconsequential ). The key (e flat minor) is very mellow and the turbulent middle section surrounded by calmer outer sections remind me of a nocturne (although the ending is not very nocturne-like of course!)

A good recording of an attractive little piece. I agree it does not sound like Nielsen, but what of that? It is good and if it is good... it is good.

Arrgh.. uploaded the wrong file! Sorry. You have Dvorak's Silhouette in A Major there instead. You can have that too, if you like, though there is a slip at the end..

Ok, this is on the site. The tags were not complete, see attached image for what I had to add. If anything in the instructions is unclear, I would like to know.

I'm now thinking this was recorded on a digital instrument. Is that right ? Sounds good though, if all digitals recordings sounded like this I would
have no problem with them.

That Dvorak Silhouette is not bad, though it does not sound quite as full, a bit more tinny and digital. Could be my imagination. That
little slip near the end does not bother so much, I was more disturbed by the strange blip at 0:36 and the ungainly pedal blur at 0:58. If you
can edit out that blip and add correct id3 tags, and post it in a new thread, this can go up - we need more Dvorak.

Yes, it was done on a digital piano, a Kawai MP6. The pedal resonance is very good and almost makes it sound like an acoustic grand (sometimes!) I reckon the sound is less tinny when playing more softly.

Thanks for putting the Nielsen up. I want to work more on the CPE Bach to get a decent recording of that, and I'll do a new recording of the Dvorak piece then.
