I'm sure I'll be embarassed but: who is the gentleman next to Alicia Delarocha on our current banner?

Weissenberg.
I can't quite seem to place the guy in the middle, though I've seen the picture before. Cziffra ?

That would be Dinu Lipati

Yes, Lipatti indeed. I just knew he didn't look like Cziffra

According to Wikipedia, Alexis Weissenberg died on January 8, 2012. :(

That's why he's up on the banner - it's a little tribute.

Since you guys know who all the people in the banner are now, I wonder if you can spot a few changes in the banner shown below. There are nine slight differences.

Some of the guys may know who they all are. I certainly don't. But at least I've found all nine differences.

I thought they'd be easy, but I wasn't sure if you could actually see the changes because the images are so small.
Anyway, Rainer, via pm actually stated each of the nine changes so he wins. And Rainer - the guy playing the piano is just a guy playing the piano  (it's nobody we know). Then comes Scriabin and Lupati. The woman playing the piano is "Woman Playing the Piano" which is one of my favorite paintings by Renoir. You already knew Tchaikovsky and deLarrocha, next is Alexis Weissenberg.

Ok, next time I will make things MUCH harder! :)
