:( I'm not sure what to think about this. Pletnev says that someone looking after his home might have been viewing/storing child pornography on his computer. This kind of accusation usually doesn't happen without some kind of proof, especially not to someone like Pletnev, so I guess I can only hope that what he's saying about his friend is true.

What is this nonsense? Cannot beleive the authorities would even arrest him without SOLID evidence..Photos are photos...Anything can be transferred to a computer easily and make an innocent person look guilty. Wonder how his orchestra will perform now. If this IS true, this will put the musical culture of Moscow to shame...being that he is one of the greatest conductors in the world...after Karajan that is.

I would assume that someone gave them a tip that Pletnev had been doing, uh, something he shouldn't have ( :D ) and they went to investigate. When they went to look for evidence they found photographs. Seems like a pretty clear reason to arrest someone, but I'm really hoping that the allegations are false. I don't presume to know much of his character, but Pletnev is such a wonderful musician that I just can't accept this. It would be a horrible thing for him to go to prison, not just for him (I don't think they let you listen to or play music in prison) but for the entire world of music as it is right now.

... I think you need to understand that even though he is a great musician, he has had a "history" of these kind of behavior.Upon during some research I found out..." In 2000-2001 Russian and U.S. police agencies arrested group of people who ran male child pornography web site and child prostitution ring called "Blue Orchid". One of the arrestees, Sergey Prokopyuk, named Mikhail Pletnev (Pletnyov) among his customers who bought child pornography from him.'
They also wrote that several years ago" Pletnev was involved in another scandal. Japanese couple complained that Mikhail Pletnev was making advances of sexual nature to their 15-y.o. son " As much as I admire this conductor I think he is hiding something.

So, now you've gone from saying "What is this nonsense" to criticizing me for thinking the charges might be erroneous? Really don't appreciate the patronizing tone of your message, seeing as how just a moment ago you were saying exactly the opposite of what you are saying now. Thanks for the information, though, I'll definitely read up on it.

Also, you should really learn to single quote.

Calm down darling; I gather that his first language is not English and that he did not mean to give that impression.

Also, I dislike referring to sexual relations with boys of around 14 and 15 as child molestation. They are post-pubescent, and some countries still marry off girls that young, and there is no global uproar about that. If it is non-consensual, then that is different, but I think around this age, even boys have brains. I don't like the idea of men using positions of authority for it, especially when it's the priests that turn around to preach against sexual immorality and homosexuality, but there is a difference between pederasty and pedophilia.

BrokenFingers...
When I remarked "what is this nonsense" I was referring to the article that you had posted. I had been shocked that the police made such an accusation without solid proof...But after reading the article I had wanted to do some background information on the Maestro. And I found out that he has had a history with such activity. No need to get all defensive...

These kinds of stories usually end up being true. I'm sure he'll pay tons of money to his attorneys to get him out of trouble, though.
