Yeah, sometimes I ask the same question myself... my heart starts drumming at the sight of one of those curvaceous beauties, but the rest of my friends and most of my family couldn't be any less impressed!



Thank you too! No need to envy me... just be patient and I'm sure a great piano will be in your future. I will say that I have put up with a 1949 Wurlitzer spinet for fifteen years so that we could save for a better instrument. It was worth the wait!

Okay, I'll fight my perfectionist tendencies. A couple of weeks after getting the piano, I decided that it was time to buy a recorder. So, I did. At the suggestion of some of the folks here I got a M-Audio Mictrotrack II model. So far, I've really liked it and have figured it out enough to use it.

I remember a long time ago that you mentioned that it was good to have the ability to self-critique one's playing, and I really see that now! The recorder tells the truth, even when the truth isn't pretty.

So, Sarah, how is life with the new piano now that you've had it a while?

Thanks for asking... the novelty of having something that's actually got a pianissimo hasn't quite worn off yet. Before the piano arrived I was excited about having an instrument that had guts that really worked, but I wasn't able to fully anticipate how wonderful a "musical" instrument would be. Something that actually had a tone, that could produce varied colors and shades... it's been fun exploring! My students have seemed to like that as well, even though they often can't put it into words.

I agree, and Jansen bench is a MUST! I got hooked when I started playing a Steinway B owned by a friend of mine, and he had a Jansen bench. I had the legs on mine custom made to match my piano, and a little bit shorter than standard because I don't like my knees to hit the bottom of the keybed. They are pricey, but worth it!!
