Michelangeli was a complex personality, totally obsessed with piano technique and his look at the piano, how every muscle should move etc.. He canceled more than 50% of all his recitals and the videos here are among the few performances that were filmed. I mean, he died in such a recent time as 1995.
He faught a battle with his health during a long time of his later life.

Apart from his musical activities, Michelangeli was a qualified doctor and pilot, racing car driver, and member of the Fascist resistance during the Second World War. He was claimed, amongst other things, to be descended from St. Francis of Assisi.

But the most inredible of all details and stories with Michelangei is that through all his rectials and recordings, you never hear him play a single wrong note!

I wouldn't be surprised if some people didn't want to play together with him for example. Didn't Von Karajan have the same problem? Because he joined the German Nationalistic and Fasistic people some people didn't want to play together with him. For example, Isaac Stern refused to play with Von Karajan. Anyone know whether Michelangeli had the same problem?
