Egad!! Your diet is fatty protein, starch (which turns to sugar which turns to fat), fiber (which is good), and dairy fat. Trying eating the potato and cabbage devoid of butter, which will help. You might need to get a cholesterol test and go on a generic statin drug for your own self preservation while there. But while you're still alive, you should ask if she makes glumkies. If you can get inexpensive red wine there, the resveratrol and antioxidents in it will help preserve you too. Good luck with that diet!

The kitchen is a battlefield that I will always find defeat. She starts to cook when I am gone or in the bathroom. And I have no control. I wish my Polish was better because I would tell her that she does NOT need to add 1 stick of butter to a non-stick Teflon coated frying pan. I would also ask her if she ever heard of something called: Salad. (the the kind of salad without the fruit and mayonaise).

I compensate (sort of) with walking and a morning run. Now I understand why tradition has the Poles consuming lots of Vodka to aid in digestion.

The overall diet is void of green veggies, high fiber, mono unsaturated fats, and vitamin-packed fruits.

F*! :x

She no longer cooks from scratch like she used to. Her oven is used as a storage bin for her pots and pans. Every food is either pan-fried (w. butter) or boiled.

I should eat very little at home and then go out and find a salad bar.

Sorry Julius, but that's a little funny!

If your Grandma doesn't know that you'd like a salad, maybe you can go to the grocery store yourself sometimes and bring home the salad ingredients. (unless they don't even have things like lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc...?) But then you also better make the salad yourself so she doesn't put butter in it.

btw - my mother cooks with a lot of butter too. Maybe it's the generation. But she's also German, so maybe it's just older Europeans.

It sounds like your grandma is tickled pink to have you there. Glad to hear you are being well-fed.

How do you like Poland so far?

Update:

Mission accomplished! I made a salad and LOVED IT . My gma also ate it and did not complain.

How am I liking it here? It's alright, no job yet. Though I am starting to branch into the private tutoring field because the money is better and the value is much higher for the learners (e.g. 1-on-1 instruction / conversation).

And my neck is quite sore from turing it side to side so I can look at all the women! Dear diary: Jackpot! (sorry monmon and nicole and sara and other ladies  )

Have to go

Hmmm....maybe some wedding bells in the not-so-distant future? (make sure she likes salads! )

No. I am here on business not pleasure (then again, some people's business is pleasure while some people's pleasure is business? see: gene wilder's skit in the movie "Don't start the revolution without me" on Youtube).

Besides I dont want to do to my parents what my father did to his when he moved to the US in 1980. It's too hard on everyone when the child lives 5000 miles away.,

My mother did the same thing; she left her family in Germany to marry my father and live in the US. And my cousin married an Australian man and now lives in Australia. Talk about being far from her family! Much easier to stay in your own country, but when love beckons....

I will have to take a picture of me wearing my cougar hunter t-shirt (and pants)! It's a magnet like a wedding ring.

Hey Juufa, I had missed the latest news. Now you are on THIS side of the Atlantic! I see you solved your main issues (healthy food & gals) and a job is almost on its way. Anyway, you are lucky to be here in Europe during the Obama era, after all it's him who got the Nobel Peace Prize, not the former president. :P

PS: post some pics of you cougar hunter garment soon!

Oh, Juuf! Now you're on THAT side of the atlantic _and_ THAT side of the Equator.

:-)

Have a nice time. Be sure to post some photos, I've seen your photography and I look forward to seeing some pics.

Marcelo

Alf: look at my "location" indicated by the number of posts I have. The only English channels I get are BBC, EuroNews, and DW-Tv (when airing English programs). And these channels are too socialist for my taste and pretty much eat anything that Obama and his communists give them. For instance, there were plenty of tea parties and uproar by the citizens concerning massive government takeovers and the rate at which government is growing, and these protests were for the most part promoted by the people and lacked any sponsorship from interest groups or politicians. But EuroNews had a segment stating that "Special interest groups [e.g. these protests and tea parties] are getting in the way of America's healthcare reform."

Socialists..... *vomit*.

All: I will try to upload photos when I can, but I dont ahve the means and the tools to do so.

Juufa, I was replying to this of yours: "I have to be careful because I am an American and that's no longer a good thing (Thanks Commisar Obama "messiah")". It's actually the opposite. As an American you're generally pretty much safer outside your country now with Obama than ever (with GWB). By the way, it was the latter who proposed Poland to host a major NATO military installation. So, leave the Russians alone and go tour around. :D
