Hi, i'd love to learn this lovely etude but i'm having some difficulties with the RH in the beginning bars, trying to sustain the top note while double trilling.
Can anyone offer any advice on a good fingering to adopt? My hands are stuck playing it. Thanks a lot
I don't know this piece but it looks awkward if you want to preserve the top note without using the sustain pedal. A theoretical possibility may be to (in the first bar) take the RH D-sharp with the LH. That way it could be played legato. But I haven't tried this out and don't know if same can be done in all similar bars.
Actually, if you simply leave out that RH D-sharp, I doubt if anybody would notice when played at proper speed. A bit cheating, but a trick not uncommon with professional pianists ! You should not let one awkward note get in the way of you playing this piece. If you can't win, give in
