As a test, I have implemented a recital calendar function on the site. The purpose is of course that artists of Piano Society can add information about their recitals, concerto etc. I added Tania Stavreva's upcoming Piano Recital in Boston the 27th of September.

Anyone who wish to announce a performance, send me an email or PM.

It is possible for any visitor to subscribe to an RSS feed and have new events coming up in their browsers automatically.

This became more popular than I thought it would be. Added another 37 events by Dejan Sinadinovic, Jennifer Froschhammer and Knut Erik Jensen.

I have added your recital and also changed the "look and feel" of the calender, looking more like an ordinary calender where you can also see old events. It is also possible to give feedback to a past event which will create an email directly to the artist.

Where has the calendar gone? I can't find it anywhere on the site...

Sorry, Chase. I mentioned it to the other admins but seems we forgot to put up an answer - which is that the recital calendar is no longer active. It was too much of a time-consuming task.

Perhaps a daft question, but I ask because I'm about to put in some effort to finish the podcast script and my effort might be better directed elsewhere:

Are you and the other admins happy with the current set of content management tools?

It sounds like there's lots of manual work involved with getting submitted music tagged and filed properly, and it sounds like the same problem got in the way of keeping the calendar going. Which is too bad. Maybe it could be made more manageable with the right setup.

What I'm thinking very generally is, I've worked with CMSes that automatically take care of at least some of the tasks you have to do regularly, and definitely take care of generating podcasts and other feeds for all applicable content (no special scripting needed). So I'm wondering if you guys and lady are open to having me do some research on content management systems, based on input from you on how you currently do things and how you wish they worked instead.

Alternatively, if you're not terribly dissatisfied with what you have now, I could just finish the damn script.

I am mostly happy with the way things are. I do get a little cranky when there are lots of files submitted at one time; and most especially when members don't supply a title and I have to look everything up. But since Chris fixed a problem we had recently, things are much better. However, he has often talked about automating some things, so he'd probably be interested in what you're doing, Amitai. I don't know enough about it though, so I'll defer to him or Robert.
