browser...hmmm...does Internet Explorer answer that question? My sons are still asleep so I can't ask them what a browser is. If that's not right, than does MSN work? That's my home page when I turn on the computer.

Okay, it is Internet Explorer. I have little experiences with this one (especially with the latest version), so I fear I can't help you. Have a look in its "options" or "preferences" menu, however it's called there. Maybe there is something like a "history" with all your visited sites, where you can delete all the entries. I don't know anything precise, sorry.

But I believe doing things like these is easier with other browsers, like Firefox.

The statistics are still not updating. It's stuck on August 5.

Yes, it's stuck alright. That has nothing to do with the browser, there is probably a problem with the script that auto-generates this stuff each night. That script cost me a lot of sweat... it can fall over because of something silly like an unexpected ID3 tag in a Mp3. I'll have to dig into this properly, and may well have no time to do so until the weekend.

@ pianolady : Basically, a browser is the program you use to access pages on the internet. Most people use Internet Explorer, but a growing number of people use non-Microsoft browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Opera. Each has their own features, merits and problems. All these subtly different browsers are what make web development such a royal pain in the bottom....

Is it my computer? The day to day statistics are not changing on mine.
Also, I have a question: On my computer, files I have clicked on become highlighted in red on the stats page and don't seem to ever go back to blue. Is there a way to manually take off the red and make those files blue again?

Go to the page, right-click and choose refresh. That should do it.

It doesn't do it for me, not even the Ctrl-Refresh ("hard" refresh). I must admit not knowing how exactly this works, i.e. where IE stores the info that this page has been visited. Deleting all cookies does not get rid of it either, nor does deleting all temporary files.

Of course it is easy to avoid them getting red at all, if you do not like that. You can customize the color of visited and unvisited pages in the preferences, and thus make them the same. But it is handy to see what pages you have already visited so I would not recommend that.

Should have Googled before posting. The answer was simple of course - a page is known as visited if it's in the browser's History. You can clear all or part of the history to make the visited links appear as unvisited again. Hope that makes sense Monica....

Yippeeee. It worked! No more red. I've been wondering how to do that for years. (I always knew how to clear out cookies, but it never occurred to me to do this when I'm on the page that I want to clear) But in case anybody is reading this, watch what you 'delete' or 'clear'. On top of clearing out the history files, cookies, and temporary internet files, I cleared out all my passwords too. Hope I wrote them all down somewhere...

To be really safe, you should always write all your passwords on a slip of paper and tape that underneath your keyboard. Nobody will ever think of looking there :P

To get back on topic, I found why stats is broken. It is because the server access log has grown too big to handle - it is now over 2GB, containing over 10 million lines  . I guess we'll have to live with the current stats until we split that huge access log. I've previously discussed this with Robert, and wrote some code for it, but we never implemented it. I guess we'll have to now...

Have you seen the statistics page today? There's something funny going on with the Brahms piece. 81,000 hits? I know it's not Arensky doing that, but is this one of those 'loop' things you talk about? I also noticed that I don't get a ticket to listen to recordings anymore.

I'm sure it's Chase is doing that... Bet you he's sitting there, clicking away, trying to get to the top of the list. But I won't have it ! Two can play that game  I'll start right now, to hell with RSI. Watch this space

You better click very, very fast. I think this is the first time your name has not been at the top.

I still am, in the cumulative stats. But Chase is running up, he's clicked on his Brahms a whopping 238569 times. Not sure if I can beat that

WTF! 184,130 downloads! My loop scripts should blocks this kind of activity. Did someone find a way around it?! Really strange as there is no specific IP producing it. See the list below:
Times - IP address
929 - 222.197.169.219
630 - 218.26.7.137
522 - 61.235.77.56
478 - 220.197.153.188
457 - 219.137.95.207
410 - 222.22.12.6
405 - 220.248.229.17
388 - 219.136.151.30
364 - 221.232.137.90
363 - 211.136.15.9
356 - 124.207.98.162
353 - 210.29.17.241
352 - 222.18.53.247
349 - 117.121.24.228
347 - 60.212.73.81
347 - 218.84.93.119
325 - 59.60.202.129
321 - 220.197.142.206
316 - 219.247.55.213
307 - 218.6.246.101
306 - 60.19.215.172
301 - 59.155.131.125
290 - 222.20.243.201

Perhaps someone linked the recording from another site but I have protection for that. However, I know the protection was not activated for half of September. Still blame Chris for that :o :D. More likely, I did that by mistake myself.
