I make this post because I am uncertain on how to play a certain pattern of notes (I do not know the name so a horrible paintshop rendering will suffice)



Is that correct? It looks like two groups of 16th notes paired together. Is there a rest inbetween the last note of the firt grouping and the first note of the second grouping; or is it played continous like 6 32nd notes?

I post this because I believe that I will play a Scarlatti sonata for the winter recital. Sonata k.61 I think is the one. Thanks. And sorry for the horrible drawing job. I tried my best.

these two are not the same. One is two groups of three, and the other is one group of 6. However, the time spent (assuming the two are the same metronome setting) is the same; there is no rest.

Scarlatti wrote it that way so that when you play it, you emphasize it like two groups of three, not one group of six.
