Good evening. I hope all is well with all of you. I have a general question regarding Piano Society's database of music. How many of the pianists are professionals? How does that work with them submitting recordings since that recordings submitted to PS are then underneath the right of this site? It seems to me that only a few pianists consistantly give submissions. I mean, how many professionals continually submit to the database? Is there a chance that PS could bag a "big time" pianist? Or does the juuf need to fill that spot ?

I hope I made sense because right now I am trying to do my homework, but somehow this place has a giant magnet which pulls me in everytime I am at this computer !

We've never counted them, or even made an effort to clearly distinguish betweeen professional and non-professional pianists. It is true that the real professionals do not submit regularly, if at all. They have bigger fish to fry. Our regular contributors are mostly the amateurs (except arensky).

I'm still curious to know how the "rights" of recordings work. By submitting my recordings am I forfeiting my ownership? Or am I just allowing a tumor to attach and share the blood supply?

You are still in the posession of your recording and can use it anyway you want on for instance other piano sites. Also, you can at any time ask us to take a recording down.

We sometimes get questions if a certain recording can be used in various situations. We always ask the person to make contact directly with the pianist as we do not own the recordings and in this way, the site serves of connecting pianists to the market.
