Howdy y'all!

Guess who's back? I remembered this place and felt like dropping a line. Don't expect any recordings from me because I no longer have access to my keyboard (however basic it was) and recording equipment.

Nevertheless I just want to see how everyone has been doing.

Hi Julius! It's nice to see you again!! :D

I'm still doing the old stuff.....working during the daytime, practicing at night. Where are you these days?

Hola, MonMon!

So, they now seem to have Internet in Farawayistan :-P

Well, the few die-hards still hanging around here are still doing their usual stuff. Nothing new really. But we've lost too many regulars like you yourself used to be.

Hi Julius and welcome back. Nice to see old members return. Are you a site member? Forgive me, as I was not a site member when you were a regular. If so I would like to see your page. My regrets about your location. Where is Obamanation? Or is that a nickname for a country I know?!

Techie: You wouldn't believe how hard & fast I have to pedal on this make-shift stationary bicycle in order to connect to the internet: the faster I go, the better the internet connection. Since getting here to Farawayistan, I've dropped 3kgs and have .5G speed! WOO-HOO!

--

I am / was a site member. I do not have many recordings and those that are on the site were done on a simple keyboard years ago. Don't bother listening to those simple, beginner's pieces. :?

Now, now, I do not want to get too political. ;) Obamanation is a new country forged from the ashes of a once-great union. Now it is at the beginning of a dramatic, Marxist change where the individual didn't "do it", but Big Brother in all his all-seeing, all-hearing, all-knowing glory.

Re: Drop-off.

Maybe an overhaul would be in order? Truth be told, we can't compete with the veracity of uploading (albeit "illegal") of records on Youtube. It's unfortunate that many casual listeners want to hear Hungarian Rhapsody #2 or Flight of the BumbleBee over and over and over again. There are many "2nd Tier" composers whose music sit idly in the dark corners of IMSLP. If only I had the skill of Techie or MonMon, et.al., I would definitely try to resurrect some of the forgotten masters.

Just my incoherent thoughts.

Interesting sentiment. You sound a die-hard Republican.
These are different times, complicated, difficult and frugal, where individuals and nations can't do whatever they like anymore. You can't expect any country to regain even a shade of its former glory. I think it's a bit unfair to blame Obama for it. Would your senator of choice have done any better ?

I am not a Republican (R & Ds are cut from the same corrupted cloth). Check out the Libertarian party and you will see what should be. I voted for Ron Paul in the primaries, but "somehow" he was blackballed from media spotlight, et. al. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtDJ6Ay4QMw   :|

Ah, the 3rd party. Yes they would probably do everything right

Aha! Obamanation is the USA! A moniker based on the presidents last name, no doubt. Now is it just me or is Obamanation a mondegreen (scroll down here: http://www.fun-with-words.com/malapropisms.html) for abomination? And Abomination is of course a word with a negative connotation! I've heard so many nasty nicknames for Obama, I must admit. Makes me realize how lucky I have it, the worst I can be is "Tuckered out". Liberterian, interesting. I like Ron Paul a lot, too.

Not sure they would do everything right, but it seems that this system should evolve. There have been independent presidents before, even whigs! Ps did you know Harry Truman and his daughter were pianists? I'd sign up for four years just to play that piano...

Bahhh...I hate politics! It's not the President's fault. It's Congress!
Anyway, I love that museum link! Thank you, Riley, it's very interesting to see all those pianos. The one custom Steinway with eagle legs is incredible!!

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of politics, either. Yeah, the eagle one is my favorite :)
