Sorry for this kind of question. But my sister who is very interested in Edward Gorey (she is herself a visual artist, too) asked me and I cannot identify the piece. Also, I'm a bit surprised that this piece is by Beethoven, To me it doesn't sound like Beethoven at all...
By the way I have a card box with illustrations by Gorey (http://www.amazon.com/Edward-Gorey-Opera-Box-Notecard/dp/1584180420). Even though I like the pics very much, I hardly have had an occasion to send one of those cards. All of them are too dark...

I know what you mean about it not sounding like Beethoven - he doesn't often use so much N6-V7-i. But the resolution of the third phrase (the B phrase) does rather seem like something Beethoven would do. Anyway, it sounds like a waltz, but I had no luck searching Beethoven waltzes.

Thank you Teresa and Alfonso for your comments and the link! I played all the Bagatelles from Op.33 and Op.126, but never thought it could be a Bagatelle!! Yes, it didn't sound like Beethoven to me in both ways - the compositional as well as the interpretational aspect

I don't have analyzed so much music by Beethoven to make risky statements like that (I'd bet on the opposite, instead), but the -II6 chord, in various context, sure was used throughout the so-called common practice period. Beethoven was no exception.
