Jelly Roll Morton, and the string of his piano (after he played one of his "stomp")
that set fire to his big cigar.
So he leaned onto his strings to light his cigar? Funny! Or did the string break and sprang up to his mouth to light the cigar? even funnier!
I read somewhere that Liszt had a pistol sitting on his piano and for one of his 'showy' pieces, he fired out shots on certain strategic bars, (and straight up into the air, I hope

) which added even more show-business to his performances.
