I'm happy to joined Riley's growing list of 'commissioned' performers.
The thing that caught my eye was the sudden inclusion of a one-and-a-half bar long phrase when there only had bar-long phrases before. Leads to a subtle displacement played with in various ways. For shaping and rubato I guess I took the more obvious route, highlighting the few but important points of interest. I think the part before the F-major end sounded a bit automatic though; Riley says he expected a bit more rubato so perhaps I could have added a bit there.
Also, technically, I guess it requires strict discipline; there are some points where my right hand goes uneven! Other than that, it was a real pleasure to play such a worthy piece, and I look forward to more to come.
