Postby Pukino777 » Sat Mar 22, 2008 4:22 pm

Hallo, I am used to compose for the solo piano, this is my first composition for orchestra and piano.
Hope you will like it. Thanks for your comments in advance!

A nice mellow theme which certainly has some potential. The problem is that you do not quite know what to do with it, except turn it around in your hands and then in the middle, desperate fro some variety, insert some Hans Zimmer-like gestures. Some inspired moments during the recapitulation, and then it just stops - THE END written all over it.

I have exactly the same problem when I try to improvise - I'm never want for a usable theme and some catchy harmonies to pad it out with, but it never amounts to somehting lasting as there is no plan or development. But I like to wring out the end a little bit instead of just chopping it off with a simple dominant chord (something I hear many amateur composers do).

Thanks techenut for your reaction!
The goal of this piece wasnt to be a symphony, its just simle music piece based on melody. I used this following schema:
Main melody A(2 repeats to remember)------------Variation in minor chords of A Melody B--------------Theme C (elements of B).............Melody D(again Major chords)..............Melody A ( 1 time)
I think the composition is good done. The piece lacks good orchestration, I will try to rework the instruments and add additional contrapunctual melodies.
