3-Part Inventions (Sinfonias) - Complete recording by Szames

Postby robert » Wed Feb 21, 2007 6:24 pm

Today, Gregori Szames sent me his recording of the 15 3-part Inventions, also named as Sinfonias which I have now put up on the site. If you ask me, these are all great recordings and a result of a talanted musician's craftmanship. Enjoy!

I enjoyed listening to Szames' rendition for No. 7. I remember my piano teacher, Alfonso Montecino, working with me to play this invention very legato. You know, I really like the staccato effect Szames employed.

These are very good indeed. Lively, bright-eyed and varied renditions of thes underrated Bach jewels. One could argue about this or that little detail of tempo or ornamentation, but there is little point in that, as they are so accomplished. Now that we have 2 complete Sinfonia sets on the site I might as well drop my vague plans to record these too :(
