Friends-
I am putting together a concert for Halloween featuring supernatural and ghostly pieces.
So far I have the three Bolcom Ghost Rags, the Prokofieff Suggestion Diabolique Op4 No.4 and a couple of selections from the Harry Potter movie score by John Williams. I'm looking for another moderate length piece, or a set of 2-3 short pieces which balance these - something less intense and more melodic, romantic or impressionist. Definitely not the Liszt Mephisto-Waltz. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Piece need only suggest the supernatural, need not have been written with that in mind.

The Headless Horseman by William Grant Still is an excellent piece.
Or Liszt Czardas Macabre. Can't think of any others right now.

Grieg's Elfin Dance. Sorry, I don't have the opus number in front of me right now.

I decided to arrange some of the John Williams film scores from Harry Potter movies and have added other instruments to the concert (cello, bass, percussion).
So I'm all set now.

Oou! Isn't the Scriabin 9 the "Black Mass" Sonata? That's too much for me. It reminds me of a stupid class I once took in which the prof played a recording of an actual black mass (from the Chrurch of Satan). Very bad stuff!

I thought about publicity and audience appeal, which is the reason behind the Harry Potter arrangements.
I even watched the first movie today to see the vcountermelodies Williams uses with his main theme (Hedwig's Theme).
For the past several years, I've performed works for piano and narrator, a couple are available on this site and I may upload some more.
Last year I recorded a CD of lessor known such works including a new one written for me.
(Available on CD Baby with the title Crocodiles and Other Tales.)

So I'm thinking of adding narration to the entire concert, with appropriate readings from Harry Potter or other sources.
I've found this makes our concerts more accessible, especially to younger audiences.
