Nathan Eckel is a 1997 graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music where he received the Zellen Prize as a student of Paul Schenly and Kathryn Brown. Nathan has used his experiences there to attract and benefit others outside the concert hall. He recently founded IronWorks > the Piano Series, which extends musical education to audiences in rural areas in Pennsylvania, USA. Previously, he developed Music Matters, which served healthcare residents in over 100 locations in three states. He is currently completing graduate work at West Chester University near Philadelphia.

Nathan's affiliations include the Columbia-Montour Arts Association (PA), Music Teachers' National Association,PianoSociety.com, Christian Performing Artists' Fellowship, CIM Alumni Association, Who's Who of Entrepreneurs. Recent venues at the Underground, the Hickman, the Barclay, the Wentworth, Asplundh Hall, Sykes Ballroom (Chester county, PA); Steinway/UNICEF Peace Piano; a 12 hour Rock-A-Thon for tsunami relief; Iron Heritage Festival.

Spirituality is an important part of Nathan's heritage. An idealist grieved by society's deep divisions, he wants to see individuals reconciled laterally and vertically. He has served at 24-hour prayer centers and healing rooms, and enjoys practicing spiritual reconciliation at such non-traditional venues as parks, new age festivals, equality forums, and theatrical events.

Mr. Eckel wants to use emerging technologies to attract younger audiences, and is learning the basics of web design, audio/video recording & production, animations, and related skills. Nathan recently gigged with a jazz trio and dabbles with guitar, mandolin, djembe, and theremin. He is susceptible to the humor of Rowan Atkinson, and probably reads too many books.
