Carlos Gardels

American pianist Carlos Gardels has been a student of the piano since age seven, and has performed extensively throughout the United States and Mexico.

A recent graduate of the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with Jeffrey Cohen and was a president's award recipient, Mr. Gardels has appeared successfully in numerous recitals, festivals, and competitions, including the Bowdoin international music festival, Piano Summer at New Paltz, and the Idllywild Arts festival. He has garnered awards in the Cypress College, SYMF, Bradsahw & Buono competitions as well as first prize in the Long Island Choral Society Young Artist's competition and was the recipient of the prestigious Young Musician's Foundation (YMF) scholarship competition.

Born in Los Angeles, Carlos presented his concerto debut at age fifteen as soloist in the Rachmaninoff third piano concerto with the Pasadena Summer Youth Orchestra under the direction of Robert Allen Gross in the Wilshire Ebell theatre. Other performance highlights include appearances at Greenfield Hall, Manhattan School of Music, Yamaha Artist Salon in New York, the California State University Northridge recital hall, as well as giving the Inaugural recital of the newly founded "Young Artists Concerts" (YAC), series at the Doheney Mansion in Los Angeles.

His early training was with Dr. Jacqueline Salas and Mrs. Hak Soon Swiatkowski, and he has coached with such esteemed artists as Vladimir Feltsman, John Perry, David Dubal, Cyprien Katsaris, Oliver Gardon, Daniel Pollack, Philip Kawin, and Andrei Diev.  He is currently pursuing graduate studies as a scholarship student at the Indiana University Jacob's School of music under Eveylne Brancart.
