The Pleasure-Dome of Kubla Khan
Charles Tomlinson Griffes wrote The Pleasure-Dome of Kubla-Khan in 1915. The piece is  based on the poem "Kubla Khan" written in 1797 by Samuel Taylor Coleridge (not to be confused with the composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor).

On advice of his teacher as well as of no less than Ferruccio Busoni, Griffes orchestrated and elaborated it as a symphonic poem. The orchestral version is probably Griffes' most popular and successful work, whereas the original piano version, a magnificent piece of effective piano writing, is all too seldom heard.
