Luke Welch

Luke Welch was born in 1980 and grew up in Mississauga, Ontario (Canada). He played in his first public concert at the age of seven, and began formal training for the piano at age twelve. His teachers include Kyzysztof Jedrysik, Catherine Kuzeljevich, and John-Paul Bracey. He has also had the privilege of performing in the master classes of Stéphane Lemelin, John Perry, André Laplante, Jean-Paul Sevilla, and Cécile Ousset.

He has performed at various venues throughout Ontario, Québec, and the Caribbean including at von Kuster Hall at the University of Western Ontario, the Iroquois Falls Community Auditorium in Iroquois Falls, Ontario (2002), and the concert stage at the Centre d'Arts Orford in Québec. Since 1999, Luke has performed in many recitals in solo, chamber and collaborative . In April 2003, Luke graduated with a degree in piano performance from the University of Western Ontario in London. In 2004, he made his orchestral debut performing Mozart concerto K. 467 with the Durham Chamber Orchestra and in August, 2006 he completed his Masters of Music Degree at the University of Western Ontario while working on a degree in journalism. He is currently hoping to attend the Rotterdams Conservatory in the fall and also has future plans to pursue a doctorate.
